This Sunday, December 15th is a Major Music Sunday. This means we are bringing in an orchestra and performing a large piece of classical holiday music. This year, the Music Program and the RE Program met together and decided to make this a Multigenerational Worship service. So we are inviting children and families to join this service together and we won't be offering additional RE programming.
We're doing this for a few reasons. One is that there are few opportunities for children to experience music like this and also be their wiggly, rustling, and moving selves. Church can be a place that holds us together and creates accessible opportunities to experience the arts. Another is that we want children and adults to get to share worship experiences with one another and share space as one whole community between our generations.
So this means we will not have RE classes downstairs this Sunday! However, the nursery will be open for children ages 0 to 6 years old who would like to play there.
The following Sunday, December 22nd, we will have a Children's Multigenerational Worship featuring music from the Children's Choirs and stories about the Winter Solstice. Sunday, December 29th, will also be a multigenerational service led by Rev Chris. And Religious Education Classes resume January 5th!
We invite you to mark your calendars for a special Children's Holiday Party on Saturday, December 21st, from 4:30 - 6:30pm! Find more information here. We will decorate cookies and do a fun holiday craft! Feel free to stay and hangout or drop off your kids and do your last minute holiday shopping or cleaning.
