Job Description:
This position provides Nursery care for infants and toddlers ages 0 – 6 years of age on Sunday mornings from September through mid-June. We need two childcare providers every Sunday and can work with you for how many Sundays a month you would like to work. We work to maintain a ratio of 1:4, adults to children. Our average attendance on a Sunday morning varies but is often from 2 to 10 children. Occasionally there may be a few older children, under special circumstances. A parent will be requested to stay if the number is higher than 8 children total. This position is supervised by the Assistant Minister of Lifespan Faith Formation. If the Assistant Minister is not on site, supervision is provided by the Senior Minister. Due to ongoing coronavirus infections, childcare providers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Duties consist of:
Provide quality, nurturing care to infants and toddlers enrolled in the program.
Communicate effectively with infants, toddlers, their parents, and other staff.
Demonstrate skills to properly address the developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
Maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Sign In each child as they arrive. The attendance sheet is located on the table inside the nursery. Children are also required to be signed out when exiting the nursery.
If the family is new, please have them complete a Visitor Form and leave the completed form next to the sign-in, and sign-out sheet.
Maintain a safe, clean, care-giving environment, and practice good personal hygiene and hand washing to ensure the well-being and safety of all of the children in nursery care.
When time permits, toys and surfaces should be wiped clean and any unwanted toys discarded or given to the Assistant Minister. Please return all toys to their proper bin/shelves before exiting the nursery for the morning.
Additional Requirements:
Experience working with young children is required, and the applicant should enjoy working with children.
First Aid and CPR certifications are desired for this position. If the applicant does not have this training, training will be provided.
Applicants will be asked to complete MA background checks in accordance with our Safer Congregation Policy for all employees and volunteers.
