Here are some opportunities for climate action, education, and advocacy for April.

1) Attend the Hands Off Rally on April 5 to protest the attacks on the EPA, termination of clean energy programs, and so much else!

2) Write or call your state senator and representative about the following Climate and Environmental Justice Bills:
Climate & Environmental Justice

An Act preventing gas expansion to protect climate, community health and safety H.3547/S.2290 This bill prevents approval of new and expanded large gas pipelines and power plants within 5 miles of environmental justice communities. The bill also supports a just transition for former and current energy workers who may be displaced by ending large gas expansion. (Rep. A. Ramos & Rep. Williams, Sen. Gomez) Fact sheet An Act prohibiting the use of ratepayer funds for utility lobbying, promotions or perks H.3400/S.2239 Fact Sheet This bill will codify much-needed consumer protections by prohibiting utilities from charging ratepayers for political activities and lavish expenses. (Rep. Owens & Rep. Armini, Sen. Creem) Fact Sheet An Act Establishing a Climate Change Superfund H.1014/S.588 Fact Sheet, Website This bill will require companies that have contributed significantly to the buildup of climate-warming greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere to bear a share of the costs of needed infrastructure investment, raising billions of dollars over 25 years from the 20 largest polluting companies. This influx of funds will enable the commonwealth to prepare for the coming climate impacts. (Rep. Owens & Rep. Jack Lewis, Sen. Eldridge) Fact Sheet, Website An Act to ensure cleaner air for communities overburdened by outdoor air pollution H.2369/S.1548 Creates a technical advisory committee that empowers community-based and EJ organizations to identify likely air pollution hotspots and requires Dept. of Environmental Protection to set up and expand air monitoring in pollution hotspots to establish baseline air pollution and set targets for air pollution reduction. (Rep. Barber, Sen. Connolly & Sen. Jehlen) Fact Sheet An Act to improve indoor air quality for highly-impacted communities H.2427/S.1546 Creates a task force to develop a statutory and regulatory framework to identify, monitor and remediate indoor air pollution and indoor mold contamination in schools, long term care facilities, correctional facilities, early childhood education facilities, public housing and privately-owned residential buildings and directs DPH and DEP to promulgate indoor air quality monitoring regulations and procedures. 3) Attend the Earth Day Service (at 9:00 am and 11:00 am), followed by the Climate Cafe at First Church, Sunday, April 27, 12:00-1:30 pm

4) Eleventh Hour Bell Ringing - in front of church on Friday, April 11, from 10:45-11:15 am.
Please join us for monthly bell ringing and sign holding to bring attention to the climate crisis.
