Social Action Holiday Gift Fair: Bake Sale Fundraiser

This Sunday, December 8, the Youth Group will look a little different! Instead of our regular gathering, we’ll be hosting a bake sale at the Social Action Holiday Gift Fair.

This annual tradition at First Church brings together community members and local artisans to sell their wares, with 50% of all proceeds supporting a project, cause, or organization that aligns with our UU values. The Youth Group is invited each year to join this meaningful event as a fundraiser for our service learning trips.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Bake: Each youth is encouraged to bake two dozen treats to sell at the fair. All baked goods must be individually wrapped and labeled with ingredients.

  • Volunteer: We’re looking for youth and parents to staff the bake sale booth in 1-2 hour shifts between 12:00 and 4:00 pm.

If you’re able to contribute baked goods or help at the booth, please let us know by signing up below.

Thank you for supporting the bake sale and helping make this event a success!

Support Our Recent Grads: Care Package Donations Needed

As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to continue our tradition of sending care packages to our most recently graduated seniors! These packages are a wonderful way to remind them that they’re still part of our community. Along with the packages, we’ll include an invitation to our 11:00 pm Christmas Eve Service.

To make these care packages special, we’re looking for contributions. We need six shoe boxes and filler items. We encourage each youth to bring something to add to the boxes; donations can be dropped off during the SAC Holiday Gift Fair on December 8 and NO LATER than YG on December 15.

Here are some ideas to inspire you:

  • Snacks: Individual packets of chips, popcorn, trail mix, granola bars, or candy for quick and easy munching.

  • Study Supplies: Highlighters, sticky notes, index cards, pens, or notebooks.

  • Self-Care Items: Face masks, mini hand sanitizer, lip balm, or stress relief items like a small fidget toy.

  • Comfort Foods: Ramen noodles, microwaveable mac and cheese cups, or instant oatmeal.

  • Cozy Accessories: A soft pair of socks, a small blanket, or a reusable hot/cold drink tumbler.

  • Tech Essentials: Portable charger, USB drive, or extra charging cables.

  • Health Essentials: Vitamin C packets, tissues, or a small first-aid kit.

  • Room Decor: Mini string lights, photo clips, or a small plant (real or faux).

  • Gift Cards: To restaurants, coffee shops, or online stores like Amazon.

  • Fun Entertainment: A deck of cards, a small puzzle, or a compact board game.

  • Laundry Supplies: Detergent pods or a stain remover pen.

  • Reusable Items: A sturdy water bottle or a set of reusable utensils.

  • Seasonal Touch: Holiday-themed treats like candy canes, hot cocoa packets, or a festive decoration.

And here is the list of graduates we will be sending them to:

  • Florian Abruzzi

  • Dakota Flood

  • Keira Healey

  • Audrey Fister

  • Ash Kopperl

  • Luna Garshina-Bobrow

Let’s make these packages meaningful and fun! Thank you for your generosity and creativity in helping us celebrate and support our graduates this holiday season.

Youth Group Winter Holiday Party and Yankee Swap

Youth are invited to join us for a Winter Holiday Party on Sunday, December 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Dinner: Food and drinks will be provided, so come hungry!

  • Games and a Holiday Movie: to bring on the holiday cheer!

  • Yankee Swap: Bring a wrapped gift ($5–$15) for the exchange. Your gift can be meaningful, fun, or silly—just not a gag gift.

If you need help picking out or preparing a gift, let us know ahead of time. We’ll have a couple of extras just in case.

Christmas Eve Service

We hope you can join us at the 11:00 pm Christmas Eve Service this year!

This service is a special tradition for us, as we also invite our recent Youth Group graduates to join. It’s a fun way to celebrate the season and reconnect with alumni who return each year—it feels like a big family reunion. We hope to see you there for this meaningful and joyful night!

Big Picture Calendar

You can find a (mostly) complete calendar of all Youth Group events for the year on the church's website. Please note: Events are subject to changes and updates as new information comes to light.
