Our Small Group Ministry groups are thriving at First Church. We have 8 small groups and many people who participate say it is the strongest connection they have to First Church. Participants in these groups get to know people in the congregation whom they might never have encountered otherwise, and also to deepen connections with individuals they may already know. These groups offer a chance to consider themes in a way that is personal as well as interactive.
We would love to start at least two new groups this year but to do so we need to identify facilitators willing to guide the group’s discussions. Meeting with the other group leaders bi-monthly provides ongoing support for a fulfilling experience.
Facilitation requires listening skills, being willing to step in when the discussion drifts, and being the contact person for the group. Training is available and we provide training and topics to get you started. Most groups meet twice a month. The facilitator chooses the time of day and day of the week that works for them to meet.
