About The Event

Please join us for a presentation and Q&A session on Edwin Atkins with historian and scholar, Dr. Ulbe Bosma. Atkins was a resident of Belmont and an important lay leader and benefactor of First Church in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dr. Bosma, author of "The World of Sugar" and a 2023 Boston Globe article on Atkins entitled "The sugar baron of Boston," will be discussing Atkins' role as a prominent member of Boston society and a leading sugar industrialist with strong ties to Cuba.
