About The Event

Join Jackie James on grief as part of the Date With Death Club series.

Wednesday, January 31, 7:39 pm, Online

According to Francis Weller, a noted psychotherapist and author, “There is some strange intimacy between grief and aliveness, some sacred exchange between what seems unbearable and what is most exquisitely alive.” In this session, we will explore what is known about grief, whether there are predictable stages of grief, what “disenfranchised” grief is, and what grief might teach us. Contact Lillian Anderson (landerson@uubelmont.org) to register.

What is the DWDC:

Date with Death Club (DWDC) is an opportunity to explore talking about death at all stages of life. Most of us have little experience with this subject, but how we think about it can make a difference. The curriculum, developed by UU minister Karen Johnston, is based mainly on the death-positive movement that encourages people of all ages to speak openly about death, dying, and corpses. The program is designed to increase our comfort level with discussions of death and the role of awareness of mortality in our quality of life. It will be interactive and engaging.

We look forward to using other aspects of this comprehensive curriculum over the next several years.
