Wendy Conroy, Children’s Religious Education (CRE) Assistant and Our Whole Lives (OWL) Coordinator, came to First Church in 2008 as a parent with young children in the CRE program. In 2009, she began facilitating OWL and eventually became the coordinator for the program at the church. In addition to coordinating the program, she continues to teach the progressive sexuality education course to First Church 8th graders and community members. She also leads the OWL course designed for 5th and 6th graders. In 2013, Wendy expanded her role at First Church and become the CRE Assistant. This gave her the opportunity to explore more spiritual themes and create or identify curriculum which works for children in the FCB CRE program.
Wendy studied Psychology and Spanish at the University of California, San Diego. She followed that up with Master in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She has been involved in education, in one form or another, for over 25 years, primarily focusing on health related topics: sexuality education, issues of aging and older people, mental health, substance abuse, and children’s health.
In her free time, Wendy enjoys hanging out with her family. They love to travel together and to play outside as often as possible.
