Soprano Soloist – Section Leader
Soprano Melanie Bacaling is from Chicago, IL and earned a B.M. in Voice Performance, magna cum laude, from the University of Evansville where she studied under Gregory Rike.
During her time at the University of Evansville, Melanie was an avid performer in both opera and choral settings. Recent roles include The Monitress in Suor Angelica and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte.
Melanie has been a featured soloist in concert works including Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Haydn’s The Creation, and C.P.E. Bach’s Magnificat.
A multiple first place winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, she’s a recipient of the Senior Gumberts Recital Award and was the 2012-13 Presser Music Scholar.
Melanie is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Vocal Pedagogy at The Boston Conservatory, and is a student of Kerry Deal.
