Social Action Committee
Action is our Prayer
Our mission is to mobilize and focus the energies, resources and expertise of the church and prioritize the most immediate and largest needs both globally and locally. The Social Action Committee not only provides information and events focused at making a difference in the lives of others. We aim to inspire other members and friends of First Church to join us in our efforts. We promote the Unitarian Universalist principles focusing on the following four themes:
- Poverty Alleviation
- Human Rights
- Environmental Protection
- Peace Activism and Conflict Resolution
Our programs and events have historically been focused on awareness and reversing the class, racial, social, and cultural inequality, and they are committed to continuing to do so.
The Social Action Committee will join with the full congregation to link initiatives and efforts in support of the UUA’s focus on Escalating Inequality.
We meet in Classroom 5 at 7 PM on the fourth Monday of every month- except July and December. Please feel free to join us; all are welcome. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or Social Action Committee Co-Chairs Patricia Garcia email@example.com and/or Jackie Neel firstname.lastname@example.org. Kathy Crawley is Secretary and Social Action Newsletter Editor.
We work hard to put the social back in social action!
