The Second Friday Coffeehouse

Presents a Benefit Concert – Featured Beneficiaries:

Belmont Against Racism

An organization that raises awareness of racism and addresses racist incidents in Belmont.

Unitarian Universalist Service Committee

A nonsectarian organization that promotes human rights and social justice worldwide.

With a guest appearance by Jon Svetkey & Heather Quay

First Church’s own keyboardist and singer, Richard Curzi, returns to the Second Friday Coffeehouse for the 13th time, performing both sets in a variety of musical configurations guaranteed to delight lovers of all music genres.
The Blood Mountain Brothers
The first set will be an “unplugged” acoustic set featuring Richard on solo piano; joined by Rick Dimino, Jerry Twomey and Mark Kohler for some jazz; First Church’s own a-cappella blue-grass gospel quartet, The Linden Singers (with Roger Read, Paul Judge, and John Howe); and The Blood Mountain Brothers (with Roger Brown, Jim Wooster, Paul Judge, Bridget Curzi, & Rick Dimino) with their classic “roots” sound.
The Linden Singers
A special feature this year will be the debut of a number of ORIGINAL songs by Bridget Curzi, Richard Curzi, and Roger Brown. Also featured will be high-school virtuosi: Hannah Read on flute and Valentin Frank on oboe.

The second set will open with special guests, Jon Svetkey & Heather Quay whose own Coffeehouse appearance was snowed out
Jon & Heather

earlier in the year.

This will be followed by
classic Positive Energy, performing a collection of hits from the 1980’s that they featured at the recent POMS fundraiser in February.
Positive Energy has audiences saying “We were in a frenzy of delight – I can’t remember smiling so much!” The band is a benefit concert favorite, that drew a sellout crowd and raised over $11,000 for Haiti, and over $10,000 for the Belmont Parents of Music Students (POMS). Featuring Roger Brown and Mark Kohler on drums and percussion, Rick Dimino on bass, Jim Wooster, Jon Svetkey, and Jerry Twomey on guitars, and vocalists Paul & Hannah Judge Judge, Bridget Curzi, Heather Quay, Roger Read, and Angie Mbulo.
