Belmont Serves

Monday, October 11 is the 2nd annual Belmont Serves day. This day of community service is organized by the Belmont Religious Council, Belmont’s inter-faith council. The headquarters this year will be at St. Joseph’s parish hall. The event runs from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. We are expecting about 250-300 participants of all ages. We already have 150 signed up, so it might be more.

The projects will be held all over town. They include:

1. Door-to-door collection for the Belmont Food Pantry. We expect that over 100 people (in teams of 4-5 adults and children) will be knocking on doors throughout the town. The food pantry is counting on us to restock their shelves for the fall.

2. Outdoor fence painting at Town Field (adjacent to the senior center)

3. Indoor painting at both Butler School and the skating rink

4. Conservation work at both Rock Meadow at the McLean conservation land

5. Gardening at different public areas

6. Quilting project at St. Joseph’s

As you know, Belmont Serves is being co-sponsored this year by both the Board of Selectmen and the Belmont School Department. On-line sign-up and additional information is at our web site:
